What is a Dermatologist ?
Dermatologists are specialist medical doctors who are experts in conditions of the skin, hair and nails. To become a dermatologist in Australia requires a minimum of 12 years medical and specialty training. It is a very competitive specialty program to gain entry to with rigorous exit exams. Dermatologists care for people of all ages and can diagnose, treat and manage more than 3,000 skin conditions including more common issues such as psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo, acne, alopecia, skin infections and skin cancers. Treatment options vary and include medical treatments (such as tablets, creams and injections), surgical excisions and special light therapy.
Appointments
Patients are required to have a referral from another doctor or allied health specialist to book an appointment with Dr Sullivan. Dr Sullivan does have a wait list and endeavours to triage referrals based on urgency. If clinically appropriate, she happily offers rural patients telehealth appointments for some follow up consultations to assist them in completing their course of treatment. Dr Sullivan works in a privately billing clinic and reception can provide further information on billing if required.
